United Supermarkets is a North American supermarket grocery store chain. With headquarters in Lubbock, Texas, its stores are located in over 30 markets across north and west Texas. The company operates under five distinct formats including United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, Albertsons Market, and United Express.
History
United Supermarkets was founded in 1916 by H.D. Snell in Sayre, Oklahoma. The company remained family-owned until 2013 when it was acquired by Albertsons. Today, it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Albertsons Companies.
Store Formats
United Supermarkets operates under five distinct formats:
- United Supermarkets: The traditional grocery store format.
- Market Street: A "gourmet" banner that provides a high-end grocery shopping experience.
- Amigos: A banner that caters to the Hispanic market.
- Albertsons Market: A banner that operates in smaller markets.
- United Express: A convenience store format.
Services
