Minute Rice is a brand of instant rice. The product is fully cooked and then dehydrated. This process reduces the time required to cook the rice at home, hence the name "Minute Rice."

History

Minute Rice was first introduced to the market in 1949 by General Foods Corporation. The product was developed as a convenient, quick-cooking form of rice that would save time for home cooks. The brand is currently owned by Riviana Foods, a subsidiary of Ebro Foods.

Preparation

Preparing Minute Rice is a simple process. The rice is added to boiling water and then simmered for approximately five minutes. Unlike traditional rice, which requires about 20 minutes to cook, Minute Rice is ready to eat in just about five minutes, hence its name.

Varieties

There are several varieties of Minute Rice available. These include white rice, brown rice, and multi-grain medley. Each variety offers a different nutritional profile and cooking time.

Nutritional Value

Minute Rice is a good source of carbohydrates, which provide energy for the body. It is low in fat and sodium, making it a healthy choice for those watching their diet. The brown rice variety also provides a good source of dietary fiber.

Uses

Minute Rice can be used in a variety of dishes. It is commonly used in stir-fry dishes, soups, casseroles, and salads. It can also be used as a side dish or as a base for main dishes.
