Forrest Mars Sr. (March 21, 1904 – July 1, 1999) was an American businessman and the co-founder of Mars, Incorporated, one of the largest confectionery companies in the world. He played a significant role in the development and expansion of the company, which is known for its popular brands such as M&M's, Snickers, and Milky Way.
Early Life and Education
Forrest Mars Sr. was born on March 21, 1904, in Wadena, Minnesota, United States. He was the son of Frank C. Mars, the founder of Mars, Incorporated. Growing up in a family involved in the confectionery business, Mars developed a keen interest in the industry from a young age. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied business administration.
Career
After completing his education, Mars joined his father's company, Mars, Incorporated, in 1929. He played a crucial role in expanding the business and introducing innovative products. Mars was instrumental in the development and launch of the iconic M&M's chocolate candies in 1941, which became a huge success and remain popular to this day.
Under Mars' leadership, the company expanded its operations globally, establishing manufacturing facilities and distribution networks in various countries.
