Old Bridge is a township located in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. It is a suburban community with a population of approximately 66,215 as of 2019. The township covers an area of 39.02 square miles, with 36.99 square miles of land and 2.03 square miles of water.
History
Old Bridge was incorporated as a township on March 2, 1869. The area was originally inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans before European settlers arrived in the 17th century. The township's name is derived from the fact that it was located at the "old bridge" over the South River.
Geography
Old Bridge is situated in Middlesex County, New Jersey. It is bordered by the Raritan Bay to the east, Sayreville to the north, East Brunswick Township to the west, and Monroe Township to the south. The township is located approximately 25 miles southwest of New York City.
Demographics
According to the 2010 Census, Old Bridge had a population of 65,375. The racial makeup of the township was 79.7% White, 7.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 8.8% Asian, 0.0% Pacific Islander, 1.9% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.8% of the population.
Government
Old Bridge operates under the Faulkner Act (Mayor-Council) form of government. The township is governed by a mayor and a township council. The current mayor of Old Bridge is Owen Henry.
Education
Old Bridge is served by the Old Bridge Township Public Schools, which include several elementary, middle, and high schools. The township also has private schools and preschools. Higher education institutions in the area include Rutgers University and Middlesex County College.

Old Bridge has a diverse economy with a mix of industries. The township is home to various retail stores, restaurants, and service businesses. Major employers in the area include the Old Bridge Township Public Schools, Raritan Bay Medical Center, and Walmart.
