International Hospital Kampala (IHK) is a 100-bed private hospital located in Namuwongo, Kampala, Uganda. It is part of the International Medical Group, the largest private healthcare group in the country. IHK provides healthcare services that meet international standards.

Location

International Hospital Kampala is situated in Namuwongo, Makindye Division, in southeast Kampala. It is approximately 6.5 km southeast of Mulago National Referral Hospital and 3.5 km east of St. Francis Hospital Nsambya.

History

IHK was founded in 1996 by Dr. Ian Clarke, a general practitioner and tropical medicine specialist from Northern Ireland. The hospital initially operated in a smaller premises in Old Kampala before relocating to its current location in 2004. IHK has been a pioneer in various medical procedures in Uganda, including the first open heart surgery and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

In 2012, IHK entered into a management agreement with Fortis Hospital Group, a leading healthcare provider.
