) is a major research university located in Beijing, China. Established in 1911, it is one of the most prestigious and influential universities in China and is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world.

History

Tsinghua University was founded in 1911 as "Tsinghua College" and was initially a preparatory school for students who were to be sent by the government to study in the United States. The university was established on the site of a former royal garden, and its campus is known for its beautiful landscaping and traditional Chinese architecture.

In 1925, the school was renamed "Tsinghua School" and then "National Tsinghua University" in 1928. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, the university was relocated to Kunming and became part of the National Southwestern Associated University. After the war, Tsinghua returned to Beijing and resumed its operations.

Tsinghua University offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs across various disciplines, including engineering, science, humanities, social sciences, and management. The university is particularly renowned for its engineering and computer science programs.
