Europe is a continent located entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere. It comprises the westernmost part of Eurasia and is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and Asia to the east. Europe is commonly considered to be separated from Asia by the watershed of the Ural Mountains, the Ural River, the Caspian Sea, the Greater Caucasus, the Black Sea, and the waterways of the Turkish Straits.

Geography

Europe covers about 10,180,000 square kilometers (3,930,000 square miles), or 2% of the Earth's surface (6.8% of land area), making it the second smallest continent (using the seven-continent model). Politically, Europe is divided into about fifty sovereign states, of which Russia is the largest and most populous, spanning 39% of the continent and comprising 15% of its population.

History

Europe has a long history of cultural and economic achievement, starting as far back as the Paleolithic Era. The continent has been the home to several great empires, including Greece, Rome, and the Byzantine Empire. The Industrial Revolution started in Europe in the 18th century, leading to major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, and transport that had a profound effect on the socioeconomic and cultural conditions of the time.

Culture

Europe is known for its diverse culture and rich history. Each country in Europe has its own unique traditions, languages, and cuisines. The continent is also home to many world-renowned landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, and the Acropolis.

Healthcare

Europe has some of the world's best healthcare systems. The World Health Organization ranks several European countries highly in terms of health care quality. Many European countries offer universal healthcare, and they are known for their high quality of care and patient satisfaction.
