Golden Opulence Sundae is a dessert that holds the Guinness World Record for the most expensive sundae in the world. It is served by Serendipity 3, a popular restaurant located in New York City.

Overview

The Golden Opulence Sundae was first introduced in 2004 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Serendipity 3. The dessert is priced at $1,000, making it the most expensive sundae globally. It is so exclusive that customers must place an order at least 48 hours in advance.

Ingredients

The Golden Opulence Sundae is made with the finest ingredients sourced from around the world. The sundae includes three scoops of Tahitian vanilla ice cream covered in 23-karat gold leaf, Amedei Porcelana, the most expensive chocolate in the world, and chunks of rare Chuao chocolate, which is from cocoa beans harvested by the Chuao village in Venezuela.

The sundae is adorned with exotic fruits, Parisian candied fruits, marzipan cherries, truffles, and a tiny glass bowl of Grand Passion Caviar. This caviar, an exclusive dessert caviar, is made of salt-free American Golden caviar known for its sparkling golden color. It's sweetened and infused with fresh passion fruit, orange, and Armagnac.

The dessert is served in a Baccarat Crystal goblet (which the customer gets to keep) with an 18-karat gold spoon (a part of the restaurant's flatware, not taken home).

Recognition

The Golden Opulence Sundae was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the most expensive sundae in the world in 2007. It has since maintained this title.
