Mesua ferrea

Mesua ferrea, also known as Indian Rose Chestnut, is a species of flowering plant in the family Calophyllaceae. It is native to the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and parts of China. The plant is known for its ornamental and medicinal properties.

Description

Mesua ferrea is an evergreen tree that can grow up to 30 meters tall. The bark is greyish and the leaves are dark green, glossy, and oblong. The flowers are white or pale yellow, with four petals and a large number of stamens. The fruit is a capsule containing one or two seeds.

Distribution and habitat

Mesua ferrea is found in the tropical rainforests of the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and parts of China. It prefers well-drained, fertile soil and a humid climate.

Uses
