Kola Real (also known as Big Cola) is a carbonated beverage brand that is part of the product portfolio of AJE Group, a multinational company specializing in the manufacture, distribution, and sale of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The company was founded in Peru in 1988 by the Añaños Family.

History

Kola Real was launched in Peru in 1988 during a period of economic crisis. The Añaños Family, who had previously run a small soda factory, decided to create a new, affordable beverage. The product was successful, and the family was able to expand their business, eventually forming the AJE Group.

Expansion

In the early 2000s, Kola Real began to expand internationally. The brand entered the Venezuelan market in 2001, followed by Mexico in 2002, and Thailand in 2003. Today, Kola Real is available in over 20 countries worldwide.

Products

Kola Real's product line includes a variety of flavors, such as cola, orange, and lemon-lime. The brand is known for its large, 3-liter bottles, which are marketed as a value option for consumers.

Market Position

Kola Real is often positioned as a lower-cost alternative to more established soda brands. This strategy has allowed the brand to gain significant market share in several countries, particularly in Latin America.

Criticism and Controversy

Kola Real has faced criticism for its marketing practices, particularly in relation to its advertising to children. The brand has also been involved in legal disputes over alleged trademark infringement.
