SafetyLit is a free service that provides a comprehensive, easy-to-use, searchable, and reliable source of information on safety issues. It is a project of the SafetyLit Foundation in cooperation with the San Diego State University and the World Health Organization's Department of Violence and Injury Prevention.

Overview

SafetyLit provides abstracts of reports from researchers who work in the more than 30 distinct professional disciplines relevant to preventing unintentional injuries, violence, and self-harm. Among these are agriculture, anthropology, architecture, economics, education, engineering, ergonomics, health services, medicine, psychology, public health, public safety, sociology, and many others.

History

SafetyLit was established in 1995 by David Lawrence, an injury epidemiologist and prevention specialist. The project began as a weekly update service for the field of injury prevention and has since grown to include a comprehensive database of articles related to safety.

Features

SafetyLit provides weekly updates of the most recent articles in the field of injury prevention. It also maintains a searchable database of past articles. The database includes citations and abstracts of journal articles, conference papers, scholarly reports, theses and dissertations, and other relevant materials.
