Dimethyl telluride
Dimethyl telluride (chemical formula: (CH3)2Te) is a chemical compound that consists of tellurium and methyl groups. It is one of the simplest organotellurium compounds. Dimethyl telluride is known for its distinct and potent garlic-like odor. It is a colorless, volatile liquid at room temperature. Properties

Applications
Dimethyl telluride is used in the synthesis of other organotellurium compounds, which have applications in organic synthesis and as precursors to materials with unique electronic and photonic properties. It is also used as a tellurization agent in the preparation of cadmium telluride (CdTe), a material important in the manufacture of solar cells and semiconductors.
Safety
Dimethyl telluride is toxic and requires careful handling.
