Sprinkle Spangles was a breakfast cereal produced by General Mills in the mid-1990s. The cereal was notable for its unique shape and colorful appearance, which was designed to resemble miniature spangled stars.

History

Sprinkle Spangles was introduced to the market in 1993. The cereal was part of a trend during the 1990s where many cereal manufacturers were creating fun, colorful, and sugary cereals to appeal to children. Despite its initial popularity, Sprinkle Spangles was discontinued in 1998.

Description

Each piece of Sprinkle Spangles cereal was star-shaped and covered in colorful sprinkles. The cereal was sweetened and had a distinct, sugary taste. The sprinkles on the cereal were designed to not dissolve in milk, which was a unique feature at the time.

Marketing

The mascot for Sprinkle Spangles was a genie, who appeared in various television commercials for the cereal. The genie was portrayed as being able to grant wishes, and in the commercials, he would often grant the wish of children wanting to eat Sprinkle Spangles cereal.

Legacy

Despite being discontinued, Sprinkle Spangles has maintained a cult following. Fans of the cereal often reminisce about it on social media and online forums, and there have been several petitions to bring the cereal back.
