Ann S. Fulcher
Ann S. Fulcher is a renowned radiologist and medical educator, known for her significant contributions to the field of radiology. She is currently serving as the Chair of the Department of Radiology at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
Early Life and Education
Fulcher was born and raised in United States. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, where she developed an interest in medicine. After completing her bachelor's degree, she enrolled in the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree.
Career
Following her graduation, Fulcher completed her residency in radiology at the Duke University Medical Center. She then pursued a fellowship in abdominal imaging and interventional radiology at the same institution.
Fulcher joined the faculty of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 1994. She has held several leadership positions within the institution, including Director of Abdominal Imaging and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs. In 2006, she was appointed as the Chair of the Department of Radiology, a position she continues to hold.
Contributions to Radiology
Throughout her career, Fulcher has made significant contributions to the field of radiology. She has published numerous research articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, focusing on topics such as liver imaging, renal imaging, and gynecologic imaging.
Fulcher is also a dedicated educator, having mentored many students and residents throughout her career. She has received several awards for her teaching, including the Association of University Radiologists' Gold Medal for Distinguished Service in 2018.
Personal Life
Fulcher is married and has two children. She enjoys spending her free time with her family and pursuing her hobbies, which include reading and gardening.
