Brown's Chicken & Pasta is a regional fast-food restaurant chain located primarily in the Chicago metropolitan area. The company specializes in a variety of chicken dishes, but is also known for its pasta and sandwich offerings.

History

Frank Brown, a former home builder, and his wife Belva, opened the first Brown's Chicken & Pasta in Bridgeview, Illinois in 1949. The company began franchising in 1955 and grew rapidly throughout the 1960s and 1970s. At its peak, Brown's had over 250 locations throughout the United States.

Menu

Brown's Chicken & Pasta's menu primarily consists of fried chicken, baked chicken, and grilled chicken. The company is known for its unique "Chicago-style" chicken, which is cooked in a patented oven, rather than being fried. In addition to chicken, Brown's also offers a variety of pasta dishes, including spaghetti, lasagna, and mostaccioli. The restaurant also serves a variety of sandwiches, including the Italian beef and Italian sausage sandwiches.

Brown's Chicken Massacre

In 1993, the Brown's Chicken Massacre occurred at a Brown's Chicken & Pasta location in Palatine, Illinois. Seven employees were killed in the incident, which remains one of the most infamous crimes in Chicago history. The case was solved in 2002 when two men were convicted of the murders.
