Michelle Au was born in New York City. She attended Wellesley College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Additionally, she holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
