New Hartford is a town located in Oneida County, New York, United States. It is situated in the central part of the state and is part of the Utica-Rome Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was settled in 1788 and officially incorporated in 1827.

Geography

New Hartford covers a total area of 35.8 square miles (92.6 km2), of which 35.5 square miles (91.9 km2) is land and 0.3 square miles (0.7 km2) is water. The town is located at an elevation of 499 feet (152 m) above sea level.

The town is bordered by the towns of Whitestown to the north, Utica to the east, Paris to the south, and Marshall to the west.

As of the 2010 census, the population of New Hartford was 22,166. The town has a population density of 625.2 people per square mile (241.2/km2).

New Hartford operates under a Town Council government system. The town is led by a Town Supervisor, currently Paul Miscione. The Town Council consists of several members who are responsible for making decisions and implementing policies for the town.
