High Times is an American monthly magazine and cannabis brand with offices in Los Angeles and New York City. The magazine has been in publication since 1974, founded by Tom Forçade. High Times has been involved in the marijuana-using counterculture since its inception.

High Times

History

The magazine was founded in 1974 by Tom Forçade, an activist for the legalization of cannabis. High Times was originally meant to be a joke, a single issue lampoon of Playboy, substituting weed for sex. However, the magazine found a large and receptive audience, and continued publication.

Content

High Times publishes articles related to cannabis, including guides for growing and using marijuana, as well as articles on food, travel, music, and other aspects of the cannabis lifestyle. The magazine also hosts events including the Cannabis Cup and the High Times Business Summit, while also providing news and political coverage pertaining to marijuana.

Cannabis Cup

The Cannabis Cup is the world’s leading marijuana trade show, celebrating the world of ganja through competitions, instructional seminars, expositions, celebrity appearances, concerts and product showcases. Hosted in states that have legalized medical and recreational marijuana, the Cannabis Cup stands as the foremost gathering place for the cannabis community to network and celebrate.

High Times Business Summit

In addition to the Cannabis Cup, High Times also hosts the Business Summit. This event is a professional and educational medical cannabis conference held in various states in the U.S. The summit is designed to provide the latest information, tools, and expert insights into the business of cannabis.

Criticism

High Times has faced criticism over the years, particularly in relation to the representation of women in the magazine. Critics argue that the magazine objectifies women and does not adequately represent the diversity of the cannabis community.
