National Academy of Scuba Educators (also known as NASE Worldwide) is a scuba diving training organization which was established in Texas, United States in 1982. The organization provides a wide range of courses, from introductory scuba diving to advanced and specialized training. NASE's training programs are recognized internationally and are designed to educate divers at all levels of experience.

History

The National Academy of Scuba Educators was founded by John C. Gaffney in 1982. Gaffney, a former executive of PADI, aimed to create a more flexible and comprehensive training program for scuba divers. NASE's approach to scuba education was innovative for its time, focusing on practical, hands-on training rather than traditional classroom instruction.

Training Programs

NASE Worldwide offers a variety of scuba diving training programs, including:

  • Open Water Diver: This is the entry-level course where beginners learn the basic skills and knowledge required for scuba diving.
  • Advanced Diver: This course is designed for Open Water Divers who wish to increase their skills and knowledge. Divers learn about deep diving, navigation, and other advanced topics.
  • Specialty Courses: These courses allow divers to specialize in specific areas of interest, such as underwater photography, wreck diving, and night diving.
  • Professional Level Courses: These courses are for those who wish to become scuba diving instructors or dive masters.

Recognition

NASE Worldwide is recognized by the World Recreational Scuba Training Council (WRSTC), an international organization that sets minimum training standards for scuba diving certification agencies. NASE's training programs meet or exceed these standards, ensuring that its certifications are recognized and respected worldwide.
