Tsingtao Brewery Group is a major brewery in China, founded in 1903 by German settlers in Qingdao, Shandong province. It is the second largest brewery in China and exports to over 70 countries worldwide.

History

The brewery was established by the Anglo-German Brewery Co. Ltd. in 1903. The company was founded by German settlers who were part of the German colonial presence in Qingdao. The brewery was initially set up to supply beer to the German expatriate community in the region.

During the First World War, the Japanese occupied Qingdao and took control of the brewery. After the war, the brewery was returned to Chinese ownership. In 1949, following the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the brewery was nationalized.
