Brachyptery is a condition characterized by the development of abnormally short or reduced wings in insects. This condition can affect various species, including beetles (Coleoptera), true bugs (Hemiptera), and flies (Diptera). Brachyptery varies in degree, from wings that are slightly shorter than normal to cases where the wings are so reduced that flight is impossible.
