Journal of Biomedical Informatics is a peer-reviewed academic journal that covers research in health informatics. The journal was established in 1968 as Computers and Biomedical Research, obtaining its current title in 2001. It is published by Elsevier and the editor-in-chief is Edward H. Shortliffe.

The Journal of Biomedical Informatics was first published in 1968 under the name Computers and Biomedical Research. The journal underwent a name change in 2001 to better reflect its focus on biomedical informatics.
Scope[edit]
The journal covers all aspects of biomedical informatics, including clinical informatics, bioinformatics, imaging informatics, consumer health informatics, public health informatics, and translational bioinformatics. It publishes original research articles, reviews, and brief communications.
