CMAS* scuba diver

CMAS* Scuba Diver is a certification level in scuba diving, awarded by the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS). This certification is recognized internationally and allows the holder to dive under the supervision of a Dive Leader.

History

The CMAS* Scuba Diver certification was established by the CMAS, an international federation that started in 1959 with the participation of delegates from several countries. The CMAS has since grown to include over 130 member federations from 5 continents.

Training and Certification

To achieve the CMAS* Scuba Diver certification, candidates must complete a course that includes theoretical knowledge, confined water skills and open water dives. The theoretical component covers topics such as physics, physiology, safety, equipment and the underwater environment.

The confined water skills include mastering the use of equipment, buoyancy control, and emergency procedures. The open water dives are conducted under the supervision of a certified instructor and allow the student to apply the skills learned in a real-world environment.

Recognition and Limitations

The CMAS* Scuba Diver certification is recognized worldwide and allows the holder to dive to a maximum depth of 20 meters under the supervision of a Dive Leader. It is also a prerequisite for more advanced CMAS certifications.
