Jamie Oliver is a renowned British chef, author, and television presenter. He is best known for his approachable cuisine, which has led him to front numerous television shows and open many restaurants.
Early Life[edit]
Born on May 27, 1975, in Clavering, Essex, Jamie Oliver's parents owned a pub-restaurant, the Cricketers, where he practiced cooking. He attended Newport Free Grammar School. He left school at the age of sixteen with two GCSE qualifications in Art and Geology and went on to attend Westminster Technical College, now Westminster Kingsway College. He then earned a City & Guilds National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in home economics.
Career[edit]
Jamie Oliver's television career began in 1999 with his show The Naked Chef. The show was a huge success, spawning several spin-off series and propelling Oliver to national fame. His laid-back, approachable style of cooking was a hit with audiences, and he quickly became one of the UK's most loved chefs.
In addition to his television work, Oliver has written numerous bestselling cookbooks. His first book, The Naked Chef, was an extension of his television series and became a number one bestseller. He has since published over 20 books, all of which have been bestsellers.
Oliver is also known for his work in improving the quality of school dinners in the UK. His campaign, Jamie's School Dinners, was a documentary series that aimed to improve the quality of food served in British schools. The campaign was successful in bringing about changes in government policy regarding school meals.
Personal Life[edit]
Jamie Oliver is married to Juliette Norton, known as Jools. They have five children together. Oliver is known for his advocacy of healthy eating, both in his professional life and his personal life.
Awards and Honours[edit]
Over the course of his career, Jamie Oliver has received numerous awards and honours. These include the 2003 Maserati and GQ Magazine Chef of the Year award, the 2005 TED Prize, and the 2010 Royal Television Society Award for Best Presenter.
