Waitrose Duchy Organic[edit]
Waitrose Duchy Organic is a range of organic and sustainably produced food products sold by the British supermarket chain Waitrose. The range was originally established by Prince Charles in 1990 under the name Duchy Originals, with the aim of promoting organic farming and demonstrating its benefits. In 2009, the brand was licensed to Waitrose, who renamed it Waitrose Duchy Organic.
History[edit]
Prince Charles established Duchy Originals in 1990, with the aim of promoting organic farming and demonstrating its benefits. The first product was a biscuit made from organic wheat grown on the Prince's Highgrove estate. The brand quickly expanded to include a wide range of organic food products.
In 2009, Duchy Originals licensed the brand to Waitrose, who renamed it Waitrose Duchy Organic. The partnership allowed the brand to expand its range and reach a wider audience. Today, Waitrose Duchy Organic is one of the UK's leading organic food brands.
Products[edit]
Waitrose Duchy Organic offers a wide range of organic food products. These include fresh produce, dairy products, meat and poultry, bakery items, and pantry staples. All products in the range are certified organic by the Soil Association, the UK's leading organic certification body.
Sustainability[edit]
Sustainability is a key focus of the Waitrose Duchy Organic range. The brand is committed to sustainable farming practices, including crop rotation, animal welfare, and biodiversity. A portion of the profits from the sale of Waitrose Duchy Organic products goes to the Duchy Future Farming Programme, which funds research into sustainable farming practices.
