Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital (MEETH) is a specialty hospital located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. It was founded in 1869 and is currently affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital, a 652-bed acute care hospital established in 1857.

MEETH is known for its contributions in the fields of ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and plastic surgery. The hospital provides treatment to thousands of patients each year in its ambulatory surgery facilities.

History[edit]

Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital was established in 1869 with the purpose of alleviating the suffering of the poor and advancing knowledge in the diseases of the eye and ear. The hospital initially operated in a rented brownstone at 233 East 34th Street, but the space was insufficient to meet the demand for medical services.

In 2000, MEETH affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital, forming a partnership that continues to this day. The hospital remains committed to its mission of providing specialized care in ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and plastic surgery.
