Musician
A musician is a person who composes, conducts, or performs music. Musicians can be classified by their roles in creating or performing music.
Types of musicians[edit]
- Composer: A composer is a musician who creates new pieces of music. They may use traditional musical notation, or they may work with audio samples and electronic music technology.
- Conductor: A conductor is a musician who directs a group of performers. They use gestures to guide the performers in terms of tempo and dynamics.
- Performer: A performer is a musician who plays a musical instrument or sings. They may perform as a solo artist, as part of a band, or as part of an orchestra.
Training and education[edit]
Musicians typically receive training in music theory, composition, and performance. This training may be formal, such as through a music school or university, or it may be informal, such as through private lessons or self-study.
Career paths[edit]
Musicians may work in a variety of settings, including concert halls, recording studios, and music festivals. They may also work in music education, teaching music theory and performance skills to students.
