Stroke is a peer-reviewed medical journal that covers all aspects of cerebrovascular disease, including clinical research on diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. The journal is published monthly by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins on behalf of the American Heart Association. The editor-in-chief is Marc Fisher (University of Massachusetts Medical School).

History

The journal was established in 1970. The founding editor-in-chief was William Feinberg, who was succeeded by Vladimir Hachinski (1992–2002), Harold P. Adams Jr. (2002–2006), and Ralph L. Sacco (2006–2011).

Abstracting and indexing

The journal is abstracted and indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, Chemical Abstracts Service, Scopus, and Crossref. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 7.190.
