They opened their first store under the name "Randalls". The company was acquired by Safeway in 1999 and later became part of Albertsons in 2015.

History

Robert Randall Onstead, R.C Barclay, and Norman N. Frewin founded Randalls in 1966. The first store was opened in Houston, Texas. The company expanded rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s, acquiring several other grocery chains. In 1999, Safeway Inc. acquired Randalls. After Safeway's merger with Albertsons in 2015, Randalls became part of the Albertsons family of stores.
