Roundy's is a subsidiary of Kroger, which is one of the largest grocery retail chains in the United States. Roundy's operates under the banners of Pick 'n Save, Mariano's, Metro Market, and Copps. The company was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1872 by William E. Roundy and has its headquarters in the same city.
History
William E. Roundy, Judson Roundy, and Sidney Hauxhurst founded Roundy's in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1872. The company started as a wholesale grocery company and later expanded into retail. In 2002, Roundy's bought 31 stores from Cub Foods in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area. In 2015, Kroger announced it would buy Roundy's for $800 million.
Operations
Roundy's operates over 150 supermarkets in Wisconsin and Illinois. The company's supermarkets operate under the banners of Pick 'n Save, Mariano's, Metro Market, and Copps. Roundy's also operates two distribution centers, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and Mazomanie, Wisconsin.
