The University of Zambia (UNZA) is a public university located in Lusaka, Zambia. Established in 1965, it is the oldest and largest university in the country. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various fields of study.

History

The University of Zambia was established following the recommendations of the Lockwood Commission, which was set up to explore the feasibility of establishing a university in Zambia. The university was officially opened on 12 July 1966 by the then President of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda.

Campus

The main campus of the University of Zambia is situated in the suburb of Great East Road, Lusaka. The campus is home to several faculties, schools, and institutes, including the School of Mines, School of Engineering, and the School of Education.
