Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is a public polytechnic university in British Columbia, Canada. With campuses located in Surrey, Richmond, Cloverdale, and Langley, KPU provides a range of undergraduate, vocational, and continuing education programs to over 20,000 students annually. Established in 1981 as a community college, it gained university status in 2008, becoming one of the most dynamic and innovative institutions in the Canadian higher education system.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University was initially established as Kwantlen College in 1981, through a split from Douglas College. The name "Kwantlen" comes from the Kwantlen First Nation, upon whose traditional territory the university primarily sits. In 1995, it was renamed Kwantlen University College, offering bachelor's degrees in addition to college diplomas and certificates. The institution achieved full university status in 2008 and was rebranded as Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Campuses[edit]

KPU has four main campuses:

  • The Surrey Campus is the largest and serves as the main campus. It offers a wide range of programs and houses the majority of the administrative departments.
