Navarro Discount Pharmacies is a pharmacy chain, photo service, and pharmacy benefit manager in the United States. The company was acquired by CVS Health in 2014 and is now a subsidiary of CVS Health.

History[edit]

Navarro Discount Pharmacies was founded in 1940 in Havana, Cuba. The company was established by Jose Navarro Sr., who was a pharmacist. The first store was opened in Havana and was later expanded to other locations in Cuba. After the Cuban Revolution, the Navarro family moved to Miami, Florida, where they opened a new store in 1961.

Services[edit]

Navarro Discount Pharmacies offers a variety of services including prescription filling, over-the-counter drugs, health and beauty aids, and photo services. The company also operates a pharmacy benefit manager that provides prescription drug services to health plan members.

Acquisition by CVS Health[edit]

In 2014, Navarro Discount Pharmacies was acquired by CVS Health, a leading pharmacy and health care company in the United States. The acquisition was part of CVS Health's strategy to expand its presence in the Hispanic market. Following the acquisition, Navarro Discount Pharmacies continues to operate under its own brand name.
