Paul Bulcke (born 8 March 1954) is a Belgian businessman who served as the CEO of Nestlé from 2008 to 2016. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Nestlé.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Bulcke was born in Roeselare, a city in the Flemish Region of Belgium. He earned a degree in commercial engineering from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, one of the oldest and most renowned universities in Belgium. He also holds a postgraduate degree in management from the University of Ghent.
Career[edit]
Bulcke began his career at Nestlé in 1979, working in a variety of roles across different markets, including sales, marketing, and management. His early assignments included positions in Ecuador, Chile, and Switzerland.
In 2008, Bulcke was appointed as the CEO of Nestlé, succeeding Peter Brabeck-Letmathe. During his tenure, he focused on health and wellness initiatives, sustainability, and innovation. He stepped down as CEO in 2016 and was succeeded by Ulf Mark Schneider.
Bulcke was appointed Chairman of the Board of Nestlé in 2017. In this role, he continues to guide the strategic direction of the company.
Personal Life[edit]
Bulcke is married and has three children. He is known for his passion for cycling and is a keen supporter of the arts.
Recognition[edit]
Bulcke has received several awards and recognitions for his contributions to business and society. These include an honorary doctorate from the University of Ghent and the Global Economy Prize for Business from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.
