Jeremy Hansen is a Canadian astronaut and Air Force pilot. Born on January 27, 1976, in London, Ontario, Hansen was selected to join the Canadian Space Agency in 2009. He is one of two active Canadian astronauts, the other being David Saint-Jacques.

Early life and education[edit]

Hansen was born and raised in London, Ontario. He developed an interest in space and aviation at a young age. He attended Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston, Ontario, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Space Science. He later earned a Master's degree in Physics from RMC.

Military career[edit]

After graduating from RMC, Hansen joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He served as a CF-18 fighter pilot and held various leadership roles within the Air Force. He also served as a CF-18 flight instructor at 4 Wing Cold Lake in Alberta.

Astronaut career[edit]

In May 2009, Hansen was selected by the Canadian Space Agency to join the astronaut corps. He completed his astronaut training in 2011. As of 2021, he has not yet flown in space, but he continues to train and prepare for future missions.

Personal life[edit]

Hansen is married and has three children. He enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and skiing.
