Phoenix Group is a British company that specializes in the management of closed life assurance and pension funds. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

History[edit]

The Phoenix Group was established in 1857 as The Pearl Loan Company and later changed its name to The Pearl Assurance Company. It was then acquired by the Australian Mutual Provident Society (AMP) in 2005. In 2008, the company was renamed to Phoenix Group.

Operations[edit]

Phoenix Group's main business is the management of closed life assurance and pension funds. The company operates primarily in the United Kingdom, but also has operations in Germany and Ireland. It manages funds for more than six million policyholders and has £240 billion of assets under management.

Financial Performance[edit]

Phoenix Group has consistently delivered strong financial performance. In 2019, the company reported a pre-tax profit of £708 million, up from £368 million in 2018. The company's strong performance is largely due to its effective management of closed life assurance and pension funds.
