History

United Supermarkets was founded in 1916 by H.D. Snell in Sayre, Oklahoma. The company expanded into Texas in 1949, opening its first store in Lubbock. Over the years, United Supermarkets grew through acquisitions and the opening of new stores. In 2007, the company was acquired by Albertsons, a major American grocery company.
