Please note that under the categorisation convention for spy, this category contains any spies (English or foreign) who spied for England and not English people who spied for a foreign power. Furthermore, it only includes people that spied for the Kingdom of England, and not those that spied for the United Kingdom. Members of the latter group are listed under Category:British spies; this category should only contain spies who operated before the Act of Union 1707.
