The NYCS template substitutes subway service information to make updating these easier.

Template parameters[Edit template data]

Parameter		Description	Type	Status
Page name	1	The page name without the (New York City Subway ________) suffix. If |alt= is given, this isn't needed. The blank defaults to "service" unless |4= is given.	Line	suggested
Link text	2	The link text, if left blank the value from |1= will be used	Unknown	optional
Alternate link	3	If given, will provide a link to be used in place of the {{NYCS time}}.	Line	optional
Suffix	4	If given, would change the suffix of the link to "(New York City Subway <fourth parameter>)", to link to subway cars and other places as well	Unknown	optional
Alternate link target	alt	If given, will provide an alternate value to link to, aside from [first parameter] (New York City Subway service)	Line	optional
bold	bold	If given, will put boldface on the link text	Boolean	optional
