The CHA Somerville Campus was established in 1891, with the first buildings constructed the following year. In April 2020, the emergency department was converted into an Urgent Care Center.
In 2016, the tragic death of Laura Levis outside Somerville Hospital led to the passage of "Laura's Law" in Massachusetts. This law aims to ensure clear and safe access to hospital emergency departments for pedestrians.
