Journal of Immunology is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes original research articles in all areas of immunology. The journal is published twice a month by the American Association of Immunologists (AAI).

History[edit]

The Journal of Immunology was established in 1916. It is the third oldest immunology journal in the world. The journal was initially published quarterly, but it increased its frequency to bimonthly in 1925 and to monthly in 1950. In 1987, the journal began publishing twice a month.

Scope[edit]

The Journal of Immunology publishes articles that report on the basic, translational, and clinical research of the immune system. This includes the areas of innate immunity, adaptive immunity, inflammation, autoimmunity, vaccine development, infectious diseases, tumor immunology, and transplantation immunology.

Abstracting and indexing[edit]

The Journal of Immunology is abstracted and indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 4.718.

Editorial board[edit]

The editorial board of the Journal of Immunology consists of immunologists from around the world. The current editor-in-chief is Pamela J. Fink.
