Brewers Association[edit]
The Brewers Association is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports the interests of small and independent American craft brewers, their beers, and the community of brewing enthusiasts. The association is based in Boulder, Colorado, and was formed in 2005 through the merger of the Association of Brewers and the Brewers' Association of America.
History[edit]
The Brewers Association was established to provide a unified voice for small and independent brewers in the United States. The merger that created the Brewers Association combined the resources and missions of two organizations that had been serving the brewing community for decades. The Association of Brewers, founded in 1978, focused on promoting homebrewing and craft brewing, while the Brewers' Association of America, established in 1942, represented the interests of small brewers.
Mission and Goals[edit]
The mission of the Brewers Association is to promote and protect American craft brewers, their beers, and the community of brewing enthusiasts. The association works to:
- Promote craft beer as a beverage of choice for the discerning consumer.
- Advocate for fair legislative and regulatory treatment of craft brewers.
- Provide educational resources and networking opportunities for brewers and brewing enthusiasts.
- Support the development of a sustainable brewing industry.
American Homebrewers Association[edit]
The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) is a division of the Brewers Association that focuses on promoting the hobby of homebrewing. Founded in 1978 by Charlie Papazian, the AHA provides resources, events, and competitions for homebrewers. The AHA organizes the annual National Homebrew Competition, the world's largest homebrew competition, and the Homebrew Con, a conference for homebrewers.
Events and Publications[edit]
The Brewers Association hosts several events and publishes various resources to support the craft brewing community. Key events include:
- The Great American Beer Festival, an annual event that features a beer competition and public tasting sessions.
- The Craft Brewers Conference, an annual conference that provides educational seminars and networking opportunities for brewers.
The association also publishes "The New Brewer," a bi-monthly magazine that covers industry trends, technical brewing information, and business insights for craft brewers.
