OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center is a private teaching hospital located in Rockford, Illinois, USA. It is part of the OSF HealthCare system.
History[edit]
OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center was established on August 18, 1899, when six Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis moved to Rockford to open a hospital. The sisters had relocated to America from Prussia in 1875. With the assistance of real estate agent William Crotty, they purchased a house on East State St. and Summit St., which became the first hospital in the area.

OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center operates a Level I trauma center, which is the only trauma center outside of the Chicago metropolitan area in Illinois to be verified by the American College of Surgeons. The emergency department has 17 rooms with a total of 24 beds. The medical center is also home to the Lifeline Emergency Helicopter Service and Rockford Cardiovascular Associates. Additionally, the Illinois Neurosciences Institute is located at the medical center. OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center is a community leader in open heart surgery, with its surgeons performing 60% of such cases in Rockford.
