Nested is a term used in various fields of study, including Computer Science, Mathematics, and Biology. It refers to the concept of having one thing contained within another of the same kind, much like a set of Russian Matryoshka dolls.
Computer Science
In Computer Science, the term "nested" is often used to describe structures or elements that are contained within similar structures or elements. For example, a nested loop is a loop that is contained within another loop. Similarly, a nested function is a function that is defined within another function.
Mathematics
In Mathematics, the concept of nesting is used in set theory. A nested set is a set that is contained within another set. This concept is used in various areas of mathematics, including Topology, Algebra, and Analysis.
Biology
In Biology, the term "nested" is used to describe structures or elements that are contained within similar structures or elements. For example, a nested gene is a gene that is located within an intron of another gene. Similarly, a nested PCR is a modification of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) that aims to reduce non-specific binding in products due to the amplification of unexpected primer binding sites.
