Rocksteady Studios was founded in 2004 by Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker. The studio gained significant recognition with the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009, which was both a critical and commercial success. This was followed by Batman: Arkham City in 2011 and Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015, further establishing Rocksteady as a leading developer in the video game industry.

In 2010, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment acquired a majority stake in Rocksteady Studios, allowing the company to continue developing high-quality games with greater resources.
