Disney XD is an American cable and satellite television channel that is owned by the Walt Disney Company through its Disney Branded Television unit. The channel is aimed primarily at children aged 6–15, with a focus on boys aged 6–11. Disney XD primarily broadcasts animated television series and live-action programming.
History[edit]
Disney XD was launched on February 13, 2009, replacing the Toon Disney and Jetix channels. It was created as part of a rebranding strategy to focus more distinctly on certain demographic groups, and to expand Disney's offerings in the competitive children's broadcasting market. The channel's launch was accompanied by the premiere of its first original series, Aaron Stone, and the channel has since continued to expand its lineup of original programming.
Programming[edit]
Disney XD's programming consists of original first-run television series, movies, and third-party content. The channel has been known for its action-oriented programming, including both animated and live-action series. Some of its notable original series include Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, and Star Wars Rebels. In addition to its standard programming, Disney XD also airs various specials and feature films.
International Presence[edit]
Disney XD, like many other Disney channels, has expanded internationally. It has versions in various languages and regions around the world, including the United Kingdom, Australia, the Middle East, and parts of Asia and Latin America. Each international version of the channel may tailor its programming to suit local tastes and cultural preferences.
Reception[edit]
Disney XD has received a generally positive reception for its diverse programming and its ability to engage its target demographic effectively. The channel has been praised for shows that offer creative content and for promoting positive messages and values.
