Prodigy was an American hip hop duo consisting of Havoc and Prodigy. The group was formed in Queens, New York City in 1991. They are considered one of the most significant groups in East Coast hip hop and are known for their dark, hardcore delivery and gritty lyrics.
History
Prodigy was formed when Havoc and Prodigy met at the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan. They initially went by the name "Poetical Prophets" before changing it to Mobb Deep. Their debut album, Juvenile Hell, was released in 1993 but did not achieve commercial success. However, their second album, The Infamous, released in 1995, was critically acclaimed and is considered a classic in the genre.
