A bolt is a form of threaded fastener with an external male thread. Bolts are very closely related to screws, and people often confuse the two. The distinction between a bolt and a screw is not universally agreed upon; however, one common interpretation is that a bolt passes through two components and is secured with a nut, whereas a screw is turned into the internal threads of one of the components. Sizes and Grades

The grade of a bolt indicates its material properties, such as tensile strength.
