Α-Ethylmescaline

Α-Ethylmescaline (also known as 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenethylamine) is a lesser-known psychedelic drug and a homologue of mescaline. It is classified as a phenethylamine.

Chemistry

Α-Ethylmescaline, or 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenethylamine, is a synthetic molecule of the phenethylamine class. Phenethylamines are a broad class of chemicals which include any compound that contains a phenyl ring bound to an amino (NH2) group through an ethyl chain. Α-Ethylmescaline contains three methoxy functional groups CH3O- which are attached to carbons R3, R4, and R5 of the phenyl ring. It is a homologue of mescaline, differing only by the addition of two carbon atoms in the ethyl chain.
