Dinner theater (or dinner theatre) refers to a form of entertainment that combines a restaurant meal with a staged play or musical. The concept originated in the mid-20th century in the United States and has since spread to other parts of the world. This article provides a list of notable dinner theaters.

History[edit]

The concept of dinner theater originated in the United States in the mid-20th century. The first dinner theater, Barksdale Theatre, was established in 1953 in Virginia. The popularity of dinner theaters peaked in the 1970s, with over 400 such establishments in the U.S. Despite a decline in popularity in the following decades, dinner theaters remain a popular form of entertainment in many parts of the world.
